About the Blog

This blog is dedicated to my alter ego who wants to explore every pigeon hole and ant nest. Slowly, I'll add my personal experiences in my travels and adventures, this will include the expenses I incurred from start to finish as reference. I found it beneficial to immortalize my adventures because aside from sharing it to my readers, it's a great stress reliever to reminisce those happy moments. I hope my blog can help you in designing your own getaways, thank you for visiting my blog.

About the Title

"Tinagtag" is a native delicacy of Maguindanaons, the ethnic group of Maguindanao, it is derived from the word "tagtag" which closely translates "tap". Maguindanao is a province of Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, a region in the Philippines. Tinagtag looks like deep fried noodles in a complicated looking rolled up form, its ingredients are grounded rice and sugar mixed with some water.

The process of making this strange looking delicacy based on my childhood memories is to mix the ground rice and sugar with some water, then the mixture is poured to a coconut shell with several small holes at the bottom tied to a beam or pole. Slowly the shell is then tapped until small noodle like strings come out of the holes and the shell is carefully maneuvered while the noodles are coming out and fried in cooking oil then bingo! Golden brown tinagtag! I'll add a picture once I go back to my hometown at Dulawan.

The Plant Manager

My name is Alhoudiery L. Saripullah. First off I think is the mandatory explanation why I have that name, my father just wants to give me an easy time at National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) whenever I apply for a clearance. Kidding aside, my name came from one of the 99 names of our God in Islam, Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala)I came from the distant lands of Maguindanao, a land so fertile that many find it appropriate to plant bombs. Our place is famous for its peace and order situation, always on the headlines whenever bad things happen and I'm saddened by these news. I spent 2 decades of my life in Mindanao and currently I reside in Manila to work.

I love exploring places, it rejuvenates my worn out mind and body. Sometimes I feel I'm a reincarnated pirate that always looks forward to a place worth plundering. I like meeting new people and listen to their life stories, I really learn a lot from others. We only have one lifetime and hearing it out from others gives us ideas of things we should try or not. If ever I go back to my province for vacation, I always end up being laid back and just enjoy the simple and slow life of the rural areas. After months in the hustle and bustle of city living, at the end of the day my body feels like it just can't keep up with the pollution. So appreciate what you have until you experience what you thought you wanted.
